  • Bees in compost bin help

Please can anyone out there advise me what to do or not to do regarding a bees nest in my compost bin. I read that people are trying to encourage bees into the garden but not a nest full? I would like to use the compost at some point but what can I do?

You've probably sorted your problem by now but if it is a bumble bee nest just gently move it to a more convenient location on a spade. I had to do this recently when our builders wanted to demolish our old pond - several hulking men cowered in the background while I did the dirty work. Not a single sting despite moving them in the middle of a hot day. The nest lived happily for another 6 weeks by the greenhouse!
