    hi there
Im new but have read a few articles that suggest what you have done or try putting copper around the area, you can buy copper tape from wilkinsons or any reputable diy/garden centre or shop etc. I sprinkle organic tiny stones and the day after I found a slug on my peppers! I think you need to use a fair amount though.
Cracked egg shells also works as they find it hard to move on spikes! Also beer-yes beer, last night I put a glass bottle of beer down and within 8 minutes there was a slug crawling onto the fence near it-I times it to see if it really worked!
You can also buy little trays like troughs around pots and they fall into that but I think you put something like beer or salt into it-depends on how you want to get rid of them.
hope some of this may work for you, good luck anyway.

I don't havea great deal of trouble with slugs/snails in my raised beds as I use copper tape around them and it seems to keep them out until foliage starts to over grow and hang over the sides creating a bridge.

My small garden plot however is over run with the little blighters, I think it's because the compost bins are so near but there's no where else to keep them.

I've heard that slugs/snails won't cross water, any one know if this is true? I'm thinking maybe this winter I'll build a moat round using drain pipes?
