I've not had much trouble with them this year. I tend to squash them if I see them, otherwise I just let the thrushes, blackbirds and frogs have them. They seem to be doing a pretty good job this year.

I go after them with a quarter horse and lasso, YIPPEE!!!
I hope no one does feed them to their dogs. Slugs can carry the parasites that cause Lungworm, very serious. It seems it's only becoming a problem countrywide in the last few years and not all vets are up to speed yet. If your dog has a habit of slug chewing, make sure their worming is up to date with a FULL SPECTRUM WORMER.I you'st to have a handle on the world .. but it BROKE!!

I started going out every night at 11 and collected all snails and slugs kept them in a container then released them about a mile away and, no, not near anyone elses plot. Of course you can only do this if you are not working and live in the countryside really. (I go to france for 4 months every year and dont really work here as such) When I am working I just buy more than I need. I use beer but someone told me it actually attracts more slugs so not sure about that one.

When I go out at night I slice each slug in two and stamp om each snail. They stay where they are and are gone in the morning. We have foxes and hedgehogs visit at night and have resident toads, not to mention numerous birds. So some creature(s) dispose(s) of the carcases and good luck to whoever it is.

I used to slice up slugs and stamp on snails but as I get so many I started feeling like I was committing some sort of genocide every evening and on top of that the next day I would find slugs and snails eating the carcasses of the dead slugs, I did not realise that slugs were cannibalistic - so the whole process just got to feel grotesque!!
