  • Nemasys Caterpillar Killer

Does anyone have caterpillar problems at the mo?

I was sent a 3-pack of Nemasys through the post (presumably as a result of sending my details through on a mag offer, or something - although I can't actually remember doing so...??)

Now, I don't have caterpillars at all (all brassicas firmly netting and touching wood), and I've just noticed that the 'use by' date is early September - so if any of you grapes has an infestation and would like the pack, please send me a pm with your address and I'll glady post it out to you.

You're generousity knows no bounds doth it lady?

My brassicas (tiny though they may be) are like yours, all well netted in.

Sure someone will take it off your hands.

Very generous offer Hazel. However, my brassicas have vanished to who knows where - not much need for caterpillar prevention here either.

Are you sure that they are not hiding, Shirley..?

I planted out a short row of turnips between pea seedlings in April, and thought I'd eaten them all ages ago, but grubbing out the peas at the weekend I discovered a turnip the size of my HEAD!!

Nope, I suspect I planted them upside down - they might be growing in Oz Have decided it isn't really worth me trying again with brassicas - had a bit of success with brocolli last year but never any joy with cabbage and cauli - and they take up so much space. Have had a better return from shallots, peas and turnips so will stick to them next year.

Nemasys has now found a good home with Pumpkin Becki!

May all your brassicas be caterpillar free!

Thanks Hazel - I hope to wreak some serious havoc on the caterpiller population currently residing in my brassica bed!

Harrod Horticultural sell a whole variety of nematodes, have a look at their Organic Pest Control page which does slugs, codling moth, caterpillers, vine weevil etc.

They do single packs or 3 packs which they dispatch at regular intervals.

We've used the Nemaslug since last year which I believe has been very successful, but I didn't realise we had caterpillers til the weekend!
