  • Spider Id AGAIN !!!

Well I see there's some activity on my Spider Id post.

Problem is I haven't looked at it since someone started posting pics

I got as far as the huntsman (Knew it wasn't one of them) and then the next pic looked a bit scarey so I had to shut my eyes, walk calmly away from the desk and pull the plug on my puter

I tried having a look after suitable quantities of wine last night but ended up running away shrieking like a jessie.

    Any conclusions (without pictures) ?

Arachnophbia is not rare. I find it odd that someone gets 'hit' by it when looking at mere pictures, but it obviously happens to quite a few, and maybe my reaction to total darkness is only a similar manifestation of my (relatively mild) claustrophobia, and no doubt other folk find that equally odd.
I'll have a look for the original thread and see whether I can spot the answer.....

I've looked at your picture. Looks like a Harvestman to me. I believe that they are 'not classed as spiders', but they are very closely related. I believe there are a few species. Like all spiders native to UK they are harmless, however disconcerting.

Scared of the Dark ? Hmm

When it's dark you can't see the spiders

I think it's learned behaviour.. my mum is a huge arachnophobe.

I can still hear her screeching... 'Michael do something, it's moving !' whilst stood on the sofa.

        But... it's not a harvestman.

Maf it definitely looks like a daddy long legs, possibly a female & some young. The females carry their eggs around in ' a loose bundle' which sounds like what yours is doing. Here's a link if you want to click on it, it has a photo but not too big or scary & a bit of info.

Yes, your a wuss ... but then so am I !! I hate the buggers. One of the girls Mrs G used to work with had a shelf above the bed with Tarantulas on in little glass tank ...bugger that I'd have slept in the shed
