  • Tiny little maggots/larvae in Aubergine compost

    Hi,

I just checked my two aubergine plants this morning and I have noticed that there are loads of tiny white maggot type things squirming around on top of the compost of one plant and when I picked up the pot I noticed a few flies flying around.

This plant hasn't been growing as fast as my other aubergine plant, could these little beasties be the problem? Could anyone help with identification of the maggot/larvae and the flies?

Any solutions to this problem would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

It could be fungus gnats, the flies lay their eggs in the top of the compost,I water from below because of these flies then the top of the compost stays dry, there’s a link here about them -
