White rot in garlic

Update... just bought a kilo of garlic powder for £4.50

Falcon, Asian supermarket. They had two brands, one a fiver for a kilo and the other that I bought. Put it on the beds today, quite difficult to sprinkle thin enough but at that price it doesn't really matter. Tastes ok too, can't imagine how many garlic bulbs it takes to make a kilo of powder...

Update - This years garlic and overwintering onions suffered just 7% loss to white rot. Could be just coincidence that June has so far been rain free and has followed a cold May but I'm hoping it's down to applying the garlic powder.
There's still a third bed full of maincrop onions (Golden Bear) that so far are all looking healthy.

Apologies for ressurrecting a thread (although a good day to do it...)
finally gave the plots a garlic water.

it's odd though, I've got it on garlic three years on the bounce and it's not stopped the garlic growing. I haven't until this year, had it on leeks at all, and only now on some leeks that have been in all winter.

Either it has spread, or I haven't noticed it before. It it's spread, it must be in my compost. Which is a pain.

I've been buying onions recently, but the skins and roots from bought alliums are the only thing I never, ever compost, just in case. Hope your compost is OK.

i think the garlic should work, the logic makes sense.

the annoying bit is that I have probably spread it around as it didn't seem to be an issue. Fingers crossed I've done something about it in time.
