  • Tiny tiny snails

I know we’ve had a lot of snail/slug damage this year, but many brassicas and even dwarf bean leaves have been eaten by tiny snails, never seen this before, anyone else ? Not sure what can be done, as all were under Environmesh, thinking nematodes next year.

It sounds like you're facing a challenge with those tiny snails damaging your brassicas and dwarf beans, especially since they were under the Environment. This can happen, especially in wet years when snail populations increase.

For immediate control, try hand-picking the snails in the morning or evening. You can also set up barriers, like copper tape, to deter them or use shallow dishes filled with beer as traps.

Considering nematodes for next year is a good long-term strategy, as they can effectively reduce snail and slug populations. If you have any other questions or need more tips, feel free to ask!

I've never seen so many as this year. They particularly like hollyhocks,
It's a finger and thumb job especially when it's damp.
They like to gather but not eat phormiums.

So many of my apples this year have had tiny snails hiding down by the stalk, makes me wonder how long it takes one to climb up so high!
Nestled somewhere in the Cambridgeshire Fens. Good soil, strong winds and 4 Giant Puffballs!

We’ve had loads too. Yesterday I noticed a lot of them on the outside of our window frames. Not a lot to eat there!
