    It's a caterpillar of one of the Noctuid moths. The various species all seem to look pretty much the same.

        We had them on ours a few years ago…they stripped several branches on one side of the tree, then just disappeared . Not returned since. ( so far!)

          It was just lay on the soil when I harvested my parsley.
