  • Bl**dy rabbits

I let the dog outside this morning and went to see what's happening in the border(flower bulbs).I knew there was some damage(neighbouring cats).I'm not a happy bunny today-primroses nearly all gone(I was blaming the birds last year),they even "pruned"my Zepherine which I planted last year-all leading shoots that were about 4'-now they are only pitiful remains.
I understand they are looking for food-not plenty around at the moment-but it hurts so much when your flowers raised from seeds are so vandalised by the beasties.
They left a lot of little round prezzies for me-so I know who was it.

Oh dear- that's heart-breaking when you've grown them from seed

(best to compost those droppings then to complete the recycling!)

How did they get into the garden? Is it worth fencing part of it off for next year???

The front garden is surrounded by beech hedge-there used to be a fence but as the hedge grew the netting went up in some places.I could imagine they could easily squeeze under the gate-they are so small.
Last summer I planted gaillardia-this would be the first flowering time-let's wait and see...
      But-they never touched hydrangea.

Rabbits are bad news Coreopsis. It's rabbit fencing, a gun and a good recipe.

poor beggers, get dragged here against their will by the flamin romans who liked to eat them, and now get the blame for all sorts.

not that i doubt it was a rabbit that ate them, and i am sorry it did, and i am happy to eat rabbit, just don't like em getting shot,

and yes i know i am still a soft begger, but i still think we should share, and it IS a primrose, it IS a plant, and i can be grown again, or grow back, and it didn't die in pain, or bleed all over the lawn.

          too much?

we don't have rabbits, i'll grow you some replacements from seed if i can with my black thumbs

Just wait til you have the rabbits - or the deer - eating every blessed thing you grow Bride You can grow as many more as you like, they can eat them faster than you can grow them The deer are even worse than the rabbits, for what they don't eat they trample all over. Thankfully I don't have them now (that was previous garden).
I'm all for share the garden, wildlife welcome here. But rabbits and deer you just can't garden with.

shall we grow a fence instead then? how about a nice live willow one, that might at least keep the deer out even if it can't contain the wabbits?
