  • Leopard slugs

Apparently these chaps eat other slugs - good lads!

I found two in my compost bin yesterday - they are pretty (if you can use pretty and slug in the same sentence) aren't they

The unusual mating behaviour of Leopard slugs is featured in Life in the Undergrowth. A pair of amorous slugs descend from a branch on a cord of mucus while twisting together in a mating dance.

That's bizarre - not the mating thing, but the fact that you mention it. Only on Friday I was talking to a couplwe of colleagues and mentioned the mating of leopard slugs as being a remarkable (if a bit weird) thing to behold.

Did a quick google and found a clip on YouTube.

Great pic Piskie. I don't think it's just the Leopard slugs that will dangle down on a slime chord, others do it too - so watch out for them in the greenhouse.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.
