  • Good bug, bad bug??

Digging over the allotment a few weeks back, I came across a selection for bugs, grubs and alike. Not knowing good guys from bad guys I left them for 'Monty' the robin to decide. Is there a list (with pictures) of the good and bad guys. I will then pass it around my extended family of allotment holders.

    Thanks!!

Try having a look at the RHS website - that would be a goood starting point anyway.

If the insects are fast moving they are likely predators and are good. Slow movers are usually plant eaters and are bad. This might not be 100% correct but is near enough.

The trouble I have is with grubs - will they grow into a good guy or a bad guy?
I tend to leave Mrs Squashy to decide whether they should be allowed to show their colours one way or the other. because I am mean and heartless.
