  • Lilac Tree

Can any one tell me why my lilac tree had failed to flower this year? It as stayed in bud whilst all the other lilac trees every where have flowered. It hasn't even produced any leaves. It's still alive. I took a scrapping from a branch and it was green underneath. We've had it approx three years. It flowered perfectly last year.

I believe you can eat lilac which is why I'm putting this thread on here, thought it would come in either the fruit or veg category type forum

Seek not to know all the answers, just to understand the questions.

I'm not sure what type of lilac it is. I think we might have trimmed it last year but we did what the instructions said and waited until we had had it for a year and then pruned it after it flowered.

Yep, I agree with BilboWaggins -your pruning may have caused the problem. I have loads of lilac, and had the same problem with one of them a couple of years ago. No doubt about it, I pruned it too late. Leave it alone this year and you should have loads of flowers next year.
A good beginning is half the work.
Praise the young and they will make progress.

I had the same problem with my Lilac, last year all the leaves curled up and went brown.
I was told to remove the leaves and not prune unless there were dead branches, I had a lovely show this year
