  • Has anyone used rove beetles?

I've seen these rove beetles marketed as a biological control for fungus flies and their evil maggots..and wondered if anyone has tried them? Apparently they're good with aphids too, so I thought I'd kill two pests with one stone.

Or would the nematode route be better?

I've got fungus fly maggots eating (and killing) my strawberry plant roots.

Sonata, have a look at this: http://www.which.co.uk/documents/pdf...ats-151783.pdf

To deter fungus gnats, you will need to sort out your watering regime, and keep the temperature down too (strawberries don't need to be in a greenhouse at all)

The strawberries aren't in a greenhouse (I don't have one). They're outside on the patio in a biiig planter. However, our garden is a bit of a suntrap, so it does get v warm now.

I'm watering only when they look dry now.
