  • How quickly does soft soap work?

So how quickly do the aphids start to look dead?

I sprayed yesterday and almost none are looking worse for wear.
I've had this before with this soft soap, I wonder if I forgot to shake the bottle before I added it to the water, would that cause this?

They have babies so the ones from yesterday should be dead but these will be new ones.

You have to spray enough to drown them [as there is a electrical charge across their breathing bits which the soft soap breaks down].

Spray, wipe the leaves down if you can or spray alot more to drown them. Then rinse the plant if you can. Then do this every day until they have gone.

HDRA guru says, spray with the soft soap, then put in the rain. Then keep doing it every time you see them. If no rain, then you have to make your own. I do this by just drowning them in the spray.

Well I sprayed an awful lot yesterday, twice.
These are definitely not the babies, these are the little bleeders that were here yesterday. I've had a better look (and another spray) and there aren't quite as many as I thought, must have been a bad leaf I looked at the first time.
But still way too many considering I sprayed yesterday in my mind.
I've shaken the bottle this time as well I've also completely drowned them in the liquid.
      Thanks.

Then run your soapy fingers up and down the soapy leaves. Watch 'em try and come back from THAT!

It helps to massage the soap into their bodies. Then you can play them some nice music!

I don't even do that to the missus, they sure aren't getting my Barry White CD, best of, hits.

I'm going to have the cleanest (deadest) blackcurrant bush in the whole of the UK at this rate

                Hi

I have recently tried this and it has worked, never used it before, you just have to be persistant and keep spraying and I have none now on my tayberry and there were loads. I think but not totally sure, that you need to make sure you have enough soap in and I also shake mine before use. I am now a little obsessive and get quite satisfied when I find some.
