This morning I have discovered mosaic virus on my cucumbers in the greenhouse. I have destroyed the plants and got rid of the grow bag they were in. BUT...am now very concerned that the virus has spread to my tomatoes. They have very slight yellow blotches on some leaves and others have started to curl. This is my first season with a greenhouse and I'm worried I have lost everything. Any advice anyone?

Poor you. Yes, it might be the same thing. It spreads via aphids and from handling or tools (it's in the sap). You can help prevent the spread by cleaning tools and washing hands if you've been touching the toms. The curling leaves might be for another reason, so fingers crossed it hasn't spread.

Thanks for that. If it is the dreaded virus, will I still get a crop of toms, or should I just cut my losses and get rid of the plants now - theyv'e been getting really big and are flowering well - it seems such a shame...might it also spread to my peppers and chillis?

Are you sure it was mosaic virus? Leaves often get a bit mottled looking.Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.

Sorry to hijack your post but I have the same problem, not in a greenhouse though. My cucumber are clearly showing signs of the virus and I think it is spread by the aphids, feeding on some obscure weed which are probably vector but do not show any signs.
I am about to destroy my poor plant but I was wondering : if I try to sow again, they are likely to be infected again !!!
So I read somewhere that if the plant is already quite well formed and the weather very hot, the virus will eventually die... or it is just fiction ??
Anyone has seen that happened ?

Definately. It was really obvious and matched the picture in my book exactly. I've got no aphids in the greenhouse, have checked thoroughly, so can only think that the plants already had them. As I only wanted 2 cucumber plants I bought them from a garden centre rather than grow them from seed. I won't be doing that again!
