I was told by a local smallholder that they line their potato troughs when planting with grass cuttings and this prevents blight. I scoffed somewhat but could there be truth in this?

Don't see how that could help as had always understood that the blight was in the atmoshere but suppose it could help with keeping any contaminated soil off the tubers.
