Just seen a tip in a magazine to plant a couple of copper coins alongside veg plants to deter the slugs - anyone tried it?

well they have a copper content in them(same as the copper collars), but would you not need to ring the entire plant?Never test the depth of the water with both feet

I tried this, apparently it had to be pennies of a certain date or earlier due to the metal content of the coins, 1972 I think. And then of course the pennies get buried and I still keep finding them...
Didn't notice any difference to slug damage either so that was another short lived experiment!
