Anybody have any pictures of the damage caused by these pests ? My Parmex carrots in a tub all have little trench-like tracks around the roots as opposed to holes, is this the work of the CRF?

Carrot Root Fly Damage
Many thanks to Bren In Pots and Two_Sheds for the replies to my query.
Both of you have confirmed that the CRF has been active in the tub of Parmex. Doesn't seem as if my carrots in the GH have been affected yet although some have twin roots but no tunnelling. This is our first year at growing our own and has been quite successfull so far. Our GH is an 8x12 Rhino and was used basically as an experimental exercise this year as it was only bought and erected in late April and was late in being put to use. Next year we will be planting outside as we have created a plot in our garden for veg and the GH will see some plants more suited to the hotter environment. Must go and buy some Enviromesh for next year.
Thanks again for the very helpful and speedy replies.
tanto.

I just dug up half a bed of carrots, and the fly damage was bad, even under mesh. It's a really windy site and the mesh sometimes gets ripped off, and the flies zoom in for a laying-frenzy before I noticeAll gardeners know better than other gardeners." -- Chinese Proverb.
