  • Can Bean Seed fly also attack broad beans?

We planted our broad beans early, under cloches and only took the cloches off when the broad beans had flowers. When the beans formed, they were all deformed like a long balloon only half blown up. The beans inside tasted OK, but what causes them to go like that?

Being under cloches would cause that. They've been squashed up.

      Broad Beans

      Hi Twosheds,

I've come the conclusion that the bed we planted the broad beans in wasn't very fertile, so we're planning to manure the bed over winter. Hopefully our broad beans will then grow properly.

      Thanks for your help.
