  • rats & sweetcorn

We have had a problem with rats eating all the sweetcorn at the allotments they are biting into them to check when they are ripe then destroying the whole lot in one night. The council have been in and put poison down (organic) and it has killed a few we also have a stoat which has also been killing the rats.I put whole sheets of glass around my sweetcorn earthed up the sides then put netting over the lot and today i noticed a couple had been stripped. Is there anything that has a smell which rats keep clear off

Sauzee, I would like to know ready for next year.

I was lucky in that I had all the main cobs off my corn and was waiting for the secondaries to ripen up when the neighbours moved their chickens to the Urban Farm. Of course the rats staple food source went and my corn was stripped overnight.
I am certain that the day my boat comes in, I'll be at the airport.
