Nasty seed garlic - can I save any?

Well, my seed garlic arrived in the post this morning!

Unfortunately the bulbs for one variety looked, well, kinda squishy. Opening some up they appear to be rotted with some sort of red dusty substance remaining. There was also a maggot (?) in one of them, around 1cm long with a black head.

It's probably a no brainer, but can any of the cloves inside the bulbs be saved or would that introduce something truly nasty into my raised beds?

Chuck it and call them up and ask for a replacement - they need to check their stocks. Eugh!!!

The cloves with the maggots are in the bin (didn't want them escaping *shudder*). Wish I'd photographed it though, was somewhat nasty. Haven't dared poke around in the rest of the squishy ones.

There was a second parcel with a different type - that one looks alright at least, but I am going to inspect it Very closely when it comes to planting time.

Have emailed them, thanks. Just hope that the rest of their stock isn't affected!

I got some tulips from an ebay company, they were blue and mouldy when they arrived, and the paperwork inside was all damp, so a quick email and ... they sent some more. Cool.

Those tulips sound like they would have been nasty to open!
