Foxes

Does anyone have any proven methods of driving Foxes from my garden.

They are driving me to anger, pooing all over the place, digging up my raised beds, digging up my pots, jumping over the fence and landing on the plants and generally being an absolute nuisance.

I have tried Pest Off sprays but to no use, I have put netting over things and it just jumps on them still.

I am considering buying plastic spikes to line the fences with, any further ideas?

I use an electric fence in the field to keep them away from the chooks- but that wouldn't work in a garden.
How big is your garden? They can easily jump off the top of sheds/fences over an electric fence- which to be honest wouldn't look very nice inside a normal garden.

Human hair is supposed to be a deterrent- and human pee- but I can't see that working with a determined fox.
Are there ultrasonic devices especially for foxes???- I know there is one at a frequency for cats.

A small injection of lead should do the trick, but you neighbours might no be too pleased at you letting off a shotgun in the back garden.

But seriously, I agree with the peeing on the boundary suggestion, but do it in the dark!!! Dog poo on the fence line might work too.

Instead of electric fence, you could use electric wire that is used for sheep and pigs, it is less obtrusive, but a big outlay unless you can borrow a setup.

Also small flashing lights and a transistor radio hung in plastic bags might put him off, keep moving them about to different locations.

Spend as much time walking about as you can, they don't like human activity.

Is there a food source for him? Particularly this time of year they are hungry and trying to put on winter condition ready to breed in spring.

My BIL is a pest controller and insists there's nothing to deter foxes. Shooting them is the best but even then another one will take over the patch. My son has several in his garden. They come up to the french windows and look in. The dog goes crazy and chases them but they still come back.

I read yesterday about elephant poo. First catch your elephant - Or at least, frighten it!

Dogs!! If you can't keep one yourself, borrow one. They'll keep foxes away!

I have also heard that human hair is good. Can you try and put some into nets (or old tights) and hang them on the fence where they are coming in.
