Little boggers!
I just went to the garage to get Mr Sheds some spuds (he's cooking: he does it once a month).

I thought "I don't remember slicing those potatoes" but on looking closely, they weren't sliced, they were nibbled! And lots of little tiny poops on them too!

We're having rice for dinner now.

Gosh that reminds me of the time in the summer when my mother found her potatoes in her kitchen cupboard like that. nice neat little scraped in the potatoes.

She found she had rats - well that is what the council guy treated her for - they had got in via the services access.

The poison just vanished - lord knows how many were getting in. Still makes me shudder.

the Meeces ate his Fleeces

Now don't laugh.
Mr TS got out his kit bags, he started taking out his work clothes to air and I heard an almighty bellow.

He was holding up a rag that used to be a very nice cotton shirt. And another that used to be a very good quality fleece. And another ....

The bladdy mice had got in his kit bags to make nests. They hadn't eaten ALL of one item, they had a bite out of everything. 2 full kit bags of clothes, all with holes in them.

He's just left for the chopper, wearing the best of the rest: those with slight nibbled edges.

The funniest thing was they'd somehow gotten hold of the guinea pigs food (I can't see how, there's no bite marks in the sacks and the sacks are sealed shut) and they filled up one of his work boots with a larder made of green peas and sweetcorn. Must have taken them ages to pick out the best bits and tuck them away in there.

I've just realised: he's gone away for a fortnight leaving me to deal with the beasties. Oh no, all the camping gear is out there, including our brand new expensive sleeping bags

Last winter the mice nested in our padded garden chairs- about 4 were shredded..flipping costly!!!

Indeed - meeces can be a right pain. Some ate through the bag on our garden vac. Not too much of a problem as it was rubbish anyways, but still.

Keep your seeds safe in a tin.

Cats do have their advantages, meece control being one of them!

My cat used to catch them in the garden, bring them in through the cat flap and let them go inside the house!!!

That was just a bit of incompetence but the intention was there! My old cat was a fearsome fighter, no faffing around - kill it and eat it, leaving a foot or a tail as evidence.

Oh dear! A very grumpy Mr T_S, perhaps its a good thing he's away for a fortnight.

What I thought was funny about your story was that the mice picked out the peas and sweetcorn from the Guinea Pig food mix - my Guineas used to do that too, the little rascals, they'd hardly eat any of the rest of the food!!

I'm sorry you have to deal with the meeces. Probably good job he's away for a bit perhaps he'll be in a better mood when he's back. But..............

I think you will have everybody's sympathy (apart from Binley ). Rodents are a pain in the petunias, or any other plant for that matter. We have a farm at the back of us and occasionally get an adventurous rat in the garden. They can be even worse. When Ed (our Staffie) was younger he was a brilliant ratter and mouser but we have to rely on rather unethical poison now. We have to be careful where we put it so that other beasties don't get it by mistake.

I AM sympathetic for t-s . It's a horrible problem to have to deal with .
But i've no sympathy for mr t-s it serves him right and he should learn to put things away.
