  • Unidentified poo on allotment

A strange one this, sorry no intention to offend.
I have found some large faeces on my rural lottie plot, always near the shed, under which we currnetly have mice and have had rats in the past. These faeces are not rat or mouse, are 0.5-0.75 cm in diameter and about 2cm long, cyclindrical and medium brown. I am just wondering if i am about to have yet a new pest to deal with when the growing season starts.

I reckon that could well be a hedgehog - but they should be hibernating by now!
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

Have you had a good look around for any tracks? We get Muntjacs but I think their poo is a bit like rabbit, or it could be a feral cat.

              Sounds like hedgehog poo?

              Google for more info.

Sounds similar to the muntjac stuff I get in my garden. Pesky little blighters.

I should add, my lottie is fenced in

                      Sorry - I can't help you there.

If no-one on the vine can come up with the answer (I'm sure someone will know), then you need to contact Chris Packham (of Spring and Autumnwatch fame). It was a standing joke on Autumnwatch because he was so obsessed with poo So send him an email via the bbc autumnwatch site - I'm sure he'd love it.
