I think not as they eat meat. You should only use herbivore faeces on the garden as meat attracts rats. I believe you can put it in a wormery though.

As far as I am aware, dog faeces should not be added to the compost heap even if you are not using it on the veg. plot. Best place for doggy doo doo is the bin I think.
It is the doom of man, that they forget.

I wouldn't be keen on it in my wormery either am pretty sure they advise against although the instructions for different types of wormery do vary considerably.

You can buy a dedicated worm composter, but even then the final compost is placed around shrubs and trees and not on edible veg.

One of the problems is that the faeces may well contain Toxocara canis - an organism that can cause blindness in people. You are careful when handling the stuff, and wash hands thoroughly afterwards, butr when it's incorporated into your soil - I wouldn't dare touch anything! Wrap and bin, I suggest.

And cats can carry toxicara catis and you dont know untill it is to late when you grab a handfull as you are doing your borders, you can get a dog toilet with chemicals that break down the poo or you could make one of your own

I am sure that I have read about a "dog loo" somewhere. I think I must have googled it sometime for my daughter. It sinks into the ground and has a sealed lid. Unless I invented it in a dream of course
Perhaps if you googled "dogloo" something might come up?

PS just googled dog loo/toilet and loads came up and as I thought it's buried in a hole and decomposes using a biogradeable fluid. Hope that helps

We got a dog-loo and ended up digging it up a few months later and binning it!! The 'contents' didn't biodegrade, stunk to high heaven and were disgusting!

I'd definitely stick to binning it!!

We had the same problem with the dogloo we had. It seemed such a good idea at the time

Trouble with the shop bought dog loo's are they are not big enough, I built a kennel for four dogs and used a big blue barrel dug into the ground, I cut slits down the sides of the barrel and filled around the outside with rubble lid on and the drain pipe running into it then covered with a GPO type concrete cover, I used this for ten years with no problem

I used to pick up the poo from my dogs and flush it down the loo. BTW I do have an outside loo, but if you're going to the trouble of picking it up anyway I think it's better to flush it away than put it in a bin. Never ever put it on a compost heap - not good to add any faeces from animals that are meat eaters.
