  • Weed I.D.

    Hi everyone,

Any idea what this is? I assume it's a weed as it's popped up in various places on my new lottie. It's a bit ferny-like and comes out from a central stem which is very tough to get out of the ground. Although it looks very dead I'm sure it's a perennial, due to the tough roots. It also has tiny weeny seed pods all over the dead stems.

To me that looks like a veggie that has gone to seed and self sown everywhere. For a moment I thought it looked like couch grass but with seed pods - no way. I think you need to post when it starts to grow again.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

I've looked it up on several sites and seems a definite contender Bilbo!

I think you could well be right BilboWaggins! One test is to find an old seed husk and see if it has curled back to reveal the seeds. I have to say, though, if this was my biggest weed problem on the lottie I would not be gloomy!

If it is, dig it up and you'll find a gnarled load of new spikey pink shoots ready for the new growing season. Have 'em out!
