Nope- you water them onto damp soil.

If you use the search facility at the top of the page you'll find a lot of previous mentions about this.
    Here's one....

The lottie gets Nemaslugged 3 times a year, and the garden gets hand to slug combat. Becki the Slug Slayer strikes again!

Aaah, thats possible, especially with the lack of ponds locally.

I have to say, the longer this goes on for,the more open to slug murder I become. I don't think I could cut them up with scissors but I'm getting there!

I messed up a throw as I was chucking them over my fence last night and did take great satisfaction in the 'thud' one of the big ones made as it hit my fence at point blank range! "Yeah, that'll teach you, and go tell your friends too!"

I use this on the ground where I plant my brassica's and I get nice white cauli's in the summer from one application

I use pellets - the Growing Success organic ones if that makes any difference?
I put them under bits of paving stones in the hope they'll not harm hedgehogs if they're under there?
They are the only thing that's worked 98%.
Putting a ring of ash has also been quite effective but has drawbacks as you only protect a single plant and have to renew after rain

How about nemaslug? Its quite expensive to use all the time, but might help in the short term eliminate a large proportion of your slimy problem

torch + tweezers + bucket of brine (find my old thread called 176 slugs)

that's what I do and I'm a vegetarian (I don't eat the darn slugs, so what's the problem?)

Nemaslug is about the most green but it can be expensive and they don't always work. Slug clear contains the same stuff that's in slug pellets that you water into the ground and should be safe for pets so long as you don't leave pools of it about. It does cut down on the slug and snail population but you can't use it on your edible plants and veg. Other than that hope for cold winters and long hot summers to help keep the numbers down. The other option is to find nice plants that slugs don't like or have some sacrificial plants to distract the slugs from what you don't want the to eat.

I have a small pond on my lottie(was a childs sand pit) there are frogs on the site & some have moved in I have few problems with slugs & use no other method to keep them under control.
I looked in my pond last week & for the first time frog spawn.

The river Trent is lovely, I know because I have walked on it for 18 years.

I had a HUGE toad living in a hole in the bank that edges my lottie. I peeked into his hole one morning and there was a big fat slug sharing it with him! I think I had the worlds only vegetarian toad!!!
