  • Would you believe it????

    Last week we planted a Globe Artichoke nearby another, well established one.
    I've just gone to give it a watering ..and the whole plant has gone!!!
    Nope- no-one has been in the garden and pulled it out through the membrane...it's been eaten from below- there is a 1 1/2" tunnel passing directly beneath it parallel to the ground!
    Yes- we do have moles- but also shrews/voles...I wonder which ate it ( nothing left at all!!!!)

      Not moles for sure - I shared my old veggie patch with a mole for the whole time I was there (3.5 years) and apart root disturbance there was no problem with moles eating the veg - worms, slugs etc are the main diet of Mr moley mole (insectivor?).

      I suspect your problem is the vole type creature you've got living there - specially one THAT size

          Bizarrely I keep finding bits of mine chewed off too - we have moles and voles and the moles are def round this area, I've seen their tunnels passing in that bed before...
