  • Vine Weevils & Nemasys

Recently something started eating my camellia leaves and I suspected vine weevil. Yesterday I was clearing some dead leaves and debris from my bottle brush plant pot and I saw one so my suspicion is confirmed.

I am now in vine weevil panic, afraid there may be larvae in all my pots and everything is going to die. I'm going to try using nemasys.

I guess I will use it in the camellia and bottle brush pots but I'm wondering if I should treat all my containers. I have about 30 pots altogether with various shrubs and trees in.

What does anyone reckon? Should I do them all or are there any types of plants that shouldn't be treated with nemasys. Some pots are quite special to me (my lovely acer for example) and I really don't want to lose them.

    Thanks in advance.

Treat all as they will be in all. though wait a little while. As you can see the beetles there aren't any grubs as such after all they have to breed, lay eggs and then those have to hatch. It should tell you when best to treat.

I have lost my acer and a few other plants to them to them and not through them eating the roots but completely striping the bark around the trunk below soil level.

The little so-and-sos even ate the roots on my fig, if there was one plant you would think should be safe it should be the fig. With latex sap you'd think it would bung them up at one end or the other.

        Agree, treat the lot

Lost my acer this winter with the cold winter, not happy about that especially as I normally put it in the greenhouse for the season.
