catwatch help please

hi, a reader of gyo recomended catwatch for reducing cat visits to gardens, sounds ideal has anyone used it?
looked on the rspb web site and it says doesnt affect other speicies, is this true? why not? what about other animals about the same size(i.e. chickens/ducks)
it says it works for 12 meters is this in all directions or just in a half moon from the mounting site?
any ideas?
any help greatly appriciated!

The sensor detects movement up to 12 metres (40ft) away and emits a high pitched sound (silent to humans) in a wide 100 degree arc, which is pitched specifically at a cat's hearing frequency.
