  • Peas - coming to the end, or diseased?

Hurst Greenshaft, have been producing for a couple months now, but still signs of flowers developing. I've only watered them twice, but seem to be growing really well.. until I've noticed that they're turning browny/yellow.

Also, I've noticed that one of the plants' leaves are covered in a white/greyish kind of mould... is that powdery mildew (3rd pic attached).

    Thanks!

And if they've been producing for two months they've done extremely well.

Cool thought it may be.. they were quite close together - next year I'll space further out. I don't know what the cropping period was - but I dug a LOAD of compost with semi-rotten veg/fruit underneath in before I planted (planted beans + peas together).

          Couple more related questions...

Can I compost the peas (and courgette plants) that have powdery mildew?

Do you leave the roots of the peas in the ground and just cut the stems off (thinking of the (nitrogen?) nodules in the ground..)

I tend to send them to the council Big Composter via my brown bin. However, before we had this facility I composted them and I don't think I get more or less mildew now.

Technically you leave the roots in but I find they get in the way of the next crop.

I compost them quite happily and don't seem to have any problems. My green council bin is always too full of nasty weeds to find space for anything else

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
