What's eating my daffs

Hi all!
I know it's not exactly a GYO question, but does relate to pests. So a lot of my daffodils have either been eaten off at the stem (with no sign of the missing part) or have been decidedly gnawed. I can't think what it would be; I'm sure they wouldn't taste good, so I don't think my cats are eaten them instead of grass (I don't think they'd be very good for them either - but no evidence of sick etc.) My first thought was slugs and snails, but surely they wouldn't eat practically a whole equivalent of a cut flower?! Someone suggested rabbits, but I've seen absolutely no evidence of rabbits anywhere near our house, let alone in the garden, in the 18 months we've lived here.

So what do you reckon?

Snails do eat daffs.
Why not pop out now in the dark and have a look if anything is going on??

Well! I just went out (in the pouring rain) with my torch, and sure enough - they're covered in sodding slugs - small but VERY destructive. It's a bit late for that bunch now, but tomorrow I shall go round with my slug solution and water all my daffs and kill the b**tards! (Scuse the 'french')

Definitely slugs or snails, I have the same problem, specially when it's rained and the flowers are weighed down near to soil level. I think it's the same little b*****s that are eating my primrose petals

Pity it wasn't my Ex eating your daffs....I had a dream/nightmare this weekend about getting my daff bulbs mixed up with my garlic, and poisoning myself.

Old joke about that some one ate some Daff/Tulip bulbs & were rushed to hostpital (very ill) But don't worry, they come out in spring.
