  • Time to check your Goosgogs........

    ........for the dreaded sawfly caterpillar. Noticed a few wee ones today which promptly got squished. So, be warned and check your leaves.

        Down towards the bottom of the bush. Leaves that have little holes in or edges that have been nibbled. The little blighters are pretty small at the moment but will soon be hooge after stuffing their faces with leaves. Just spent an hour squishing them .
        Last year we spent three days picking them off but they were bigger when we spotted them ......

          I'll look.
          Thankfully I've only one bush to check as the other doesn't seem to have made it.

          (It's not thankful at all... I'm just trying hard to find the sliver lining!)

            I have five bushes on one plot .......spent another hour this morning hunting down the little b's.......

              We have a few bushes in their first year, so will be out at the weekend having a hunt for them. Thanks very muchly.

                  Yuk, they're on mine! Well, one of the new ones just sprouted from the stem I planted. Now one of the old ones (it's in the bin) as it only had two leaves left after a caterpillar, slug or snail attack three weeks ago.

                  Now, if I can just catch it on the huge one and the red and white currants...
