  • white patches/spots on herbs

I was pretty upset to see my oregano plant (bought in a 1litre pot in Feb, now planted in the ground) has got small white spots on many of the leaves. This happened at my last house, with oregano as well as rosemary, and I'm depressed by the idea that it's followed me.

It doesn't have any obvious impact on the plants - doesn't cause them to die back - but it's pretty offputting when you want to pick fresh herbs to cook with.

The oregano looked beautiful up until a few days ago! In case it makes a difference, I did a first harvest from it a week ago - taking out the growing tips.

It's not powdery mildew as it doesn't have a powdery quality, just small flat spots. Can anyone suggest what it could be and whether or not I can still eat the affected herbs?
    thanks!

No idea but I think I've had it on my oregano too. It still grows though. I don't normally worry about leaf blemishes unless it looks really nasty or disturbing- maybe I should (??)

Many thanks both! I will try to post a photo. I don't know whether to worry about eating it, but it's a regular pattern of blemishes which makes me think it's a disease- so I'm uncertain.

finally got round to that photo, but difficult to capture it - you can just about see the patches on the right hand leaf! The plant overall is less affected now which is why I just picked one splodgy bit, but it would be good to know what people think for next time it comes up... Any reason not to eat the stuff?

Well I'm not sure what has caused it - it looks a bit like physical damage? But if it were mine, I'd eat it!
