White Froth Underneath Strawberry Leaves

I found some white frothy stuff underneath some of my strawberry leaves today - I presumed it was some kind of larvae so have cut those leaves off. Am I right in thinking its some kind of baddie, or is it nothing?

Sorry if this has been asked elsewhere, I tried to do a search but there are numerous strawberry threads!

The white froth is usually termed 'Cuckoo Spit'. It hides the nymph of the Froghopper. The nymph feeds on the sap of the plant. I just wipe them off, making sure I get the nymph as well as the cuckoo spit .

Ah, ok. I did wonder if it was just cuckoo's spit bit it looked a bit funny.

They are unsightly, but mostly harmless - wash or flick them off if you can be bothered
