  • Cutworms?

Can anyone tell me if these are cutworms? I found them munching on my lavender:

I didn't know what they were, so didn't harm them. I did put them back on a patio weed, well away from my lavender though.

They do look like them but being no expert can't say for definate.

Is your lavender well established? I only ask because I thought cutworms preferred seedling/young tender shoots. ???? If they are cutworms, try putting collars around your young plants to help prevent the blighters attacking. Another thing I've heard of - but not tried - is spinkling cinnamon on the earth around the plants.
A good beginning is half the work.
Praise the young and they will make progress.

I bought the lavender from the Gardener's World show at the NEC last year. They're still quite small, and haven't flowered yet. I'm pretty sure I've picked them all off now.

They look like cut worm to me. Have a look at this, it gives good advice how to control them and what they like to eat.
