Cutworm???

Just checked the greenhouse before having breakfast and heading off to the allotment to notice that some of my broccoli seedlings are being eaten. It seems that something is literally cutting through the stems and/or eats the tiny leaves. Some of them just have the stalk left... Thought it was cutworms at first but I think the cuts would be closer to the surface with no stem left...? The seedlings are probably only 1inch tall/maybe 2...

Any other ideas?

Definitely not cutworm. More likely to be a mouse.

Could be slugs/snails. Is there any shiny lines going away from them?

It never ceases to amaze me where the slugs can appear, eat and then disappear. I bet that's what's happened.

I had to go to the greenhouse late the other night and did a double take at the huge snail about to chomp my seedlings........... Grrrrr, he soon learnt to fly.
