We had a female blackbird several years ago that actually used to come into the kitchen to be fed and took food from our hand. Later that year, when she had her first brood, she'd lead them into the house. Initially, they were unsure and would only go as far as the back doorstep until summoning the courage to come inside and join mum. Afterwards, all 5 would come in individually whenever they were peckish. - Just one of those fond memories.
Every winter we get lots of blackbirds hanging around the garden together. On average about 13, this winter, 18. It's always great to see them; it always makes me smile though when, after living together for the past 4 months, come the beginning of March with two it's a case of: Right! This is my patch, off you lot!
