  • Unidentified Grub

Does anyone know what these are? My two wicker planters that I use for lettuce and spring onions are full of them.

They look very like leatherjackets to me. This is the grub of the cranefly (daddy long legs) and they are normally found in grassland and can really ruin lawns. Collect them all up and offer them to the birds.

Oh, is that what leatherjackets are? I definitely need to get rid of them then. Thanks for the reply.

I would change the soil in the planters if I were you. Spread out the old soil for the birds to feast on!
