Has anybody noticed an increase in the number of cockchafer larvae this year? I planted some raspberries in a pot & the roots of every one disappeared. when I removed the compost I found nearly 100 larvae. There were also a large number in the top few inches when I emptied the compost bin. Having replanted some more raspberries in clean compost, would putting a thick layer of bark chippings on the top prevent them? Angela

If you or a neighbour have chickens they will be a real treat for them.(we have a Pug that we call the cockchafer grub, they look remarkably similar!)
