  • What's been eating my sticky labels?

I have 12 pots of rooted armpits in a large tray in the bottom of my blowaway. Today I discovered something appears to have eaten most of the labels that were stuck to the sides (Oo-er missus - no don't laugh, it's serious - I don't know what's what now!)

I'm worried that whatever it was will start on the plants themselves next.

Whatever it is hasn't touched the pots on the two higher shelves.

    Do slugs eat sticky labels?
The problem with rounded personalities is they don't tesselate.

I wouldn't put it past the slimey little beggers.

I've had a snail eat through an empty seed packet.

I dropped my rooted armpits, they all came out of the pots they were in - now I don't know what's what either.. so when they're given away they are "lucky dip" tomatoes the rest of them are in morrisons buckets outside... not expecting them to ripen, but if they do fruit we'll have some green toms for chutney.

It will be slugs or snails.

There was a spate of attacks on letters inside letterboxes in Devon a few years ago: it was snails inside the letterboxes, eating the glue on the letters

Definitely slugs or snails. They love paper and glue.

*wonders if pritt stick left open outside will deter them from my other plants then!*

My money would be snails or slugs too. A few years ago I put a list on the inside of the greenhouse to remind me which plants needed "armpitting", they ate that too!

Hmm, now I'm wondering if there may be a niche in the market.

We are all aware of identity theft nowadays, and are told to shred all our sensitive documents before disposing of them. But the scoundrels can piece together your shredded confetti given enough time - they used to do it in WW2.

So perhaps the "Security Snail" (copyright MD enterprises) is the way forwards! Never again worry about anyone finding out who you are, or where you use your Visa card. Just give your used bank statements to our specially trained snail squads and watch them go to work! And you can eat them afterwards, if you are French.

Genius. I'm off to the patent office - hope you guys will all buy some.
