  • How to use compost with slugs in it

Hi, I have read the previous threads about leaving slugs in compost etc but does this mean I need to pick them all out before using the compost? There are loads in there.

leaving slugs in the compost bin means that they have a chance to chomp through the greenery in there thus helping it break down into useable compost. Once the compost is made, turn it out of the bin and leave for a few days. It will very quickly become slug free.

As said above, slugs eat rotting vegetation (as well as young plants). If you have slugs in your compost, it suggests it's not fully rotted yet, and not ready to be used...
