The inside story on Monsanto and the glyphosate birth defect data - Comment - The Ecologist

I don't use roundup, or any of the other weed killers; and have to actively stop school gardeners spraying...and now I can refer them to a report to stop them in their tracks!

That is an appalling cover up. I will not use weed killer again.

    Loving my allotment!

Newton, you read that report in 17 minutes?

The following was extracted from the report -"of course, all assumptions need to be tested, and not even independent science has explored the full picture of Roundup and glyphosate’s toxicity"

I haven't read the full report but will do so but my assumptions after reading the report will take that statement into account.

Me too with our anal parish councillors! I was told I could not sink gravel boards around the ege of the plot to hold back the twitch but that I had to use this stuff instead...imagine my surprise that a council would advocate spraying this stuff.
Now they're going to get it with both barrels

Monsanto's own studies showed that the chemicals were still in the soil 28 days after application. Biodegradable???

Hmmm...lots of comfrey needed then methinks. I figured we might just put the boards in anyhow as they never visit - lazy s@ds. One guy has not tended his plot for nearly four years.

See, the issue is trying to convince others - I'd hate it if my plot neighbours would spray :/

Thankfully, one of my neighbours is organic, so that's good.

Possibly from me: I've planted comfrey all up the sides of my lotty to try and block the couch grass coming in from both neighbours.
I don't know how it works (it could just be the 6" ditch I've dug between the paths and my comfrey), but the invasion has been halted. I do still get the odd string of couch on my plot, but nowhere near as bad as it used to be

That's what we were going to do TS - I read the only way to halt it's spread as it is shallow rooted is to dig 6" trench and sink in gravel boards or sleepers. Think I'll still do it, just not follow rules and ask...as before. Feeling rebellious!
