We have a rat problem big style on the site, no live stock on site any more so no food storage problem. I know we all have rats but not having seen any for a while I was shocked by the number.
Advice is to put bait down where the birds etc can't get it and to buy a good one ( not cheap rubbish ) keep putting it down and replace when its been eaten. Then replace with another brand as they become immune to the bait. Hopefully tis will get rid of most of them.

Jackie, you really need to get everyone to destroy nesting sites (or at least make them uncomfortable for ratties), and to stop putting bread down for the birds (could be residents?)

Take away their food & shelter, and they'll not hang around
