Tried repeated doses of boiling water?
Never test the depth of the water with both feet

The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory....

Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else.

The reason i don't like them is because when i moved in this house i was unaware that there were infestations of ants in the walls and under the flooring. I had an 8 years battle to get rid of them and was on the verge of moving house because i had tried everything, had professionals in and everything, and still they were rife.

When you open your lounge door to find your walls and furniture covered with them, many of them winged, and when you put your kids to bed and find them crawling along the bedroom furniture, go to the loo and find them having a party on the lavatory, thats when you hate them.
Spelling errors are my area of expertise. Apologies if my jumbled up mind/words cause offence.

Thanks both - will give it a go with both methods and keep everything crossed!

When I lived in turkey, I used to love a dried chick pea snack that was coated in sugar puff stuff. I treated myself to a bag on the way home one day. Munched at least half and came across the odd ant, I assumed it just somehow got into the bag...then another, made me a little worried. wasn't until I got home and tipped them in a bowl I realised the ants were all hidden, crawling under the sugar coating...dread to think how many I ate

In or near the house, they get killed.

On the plot, for the most part, I just leave them.

                  I love Adam Ant!

As above, I'm anti in the house but put up with them on the plot.

We found a colony of red ants when digging over a small part of our plot yesterday - I must admit I have no idea whether they are "good" or "bad" for the plot....I'm guessing by some of the replies here that they are not necessarily anything to worry about (unless they fly or bite you??).
