    I'd guess at a marsh marigold??..or some other type of buttercup.

      Looks a bit like a Cinquefoil. A leaf shot would be helpful.

          Still don't know sorry. My money is on some form of Cinquefoil/potentilla/tormentil or, as Nicos says ^^^^ buttercup!

            If I've understood how the lower leaves look, I'm fairly sure it's Wood Avens or Herb Bennet. It has a dead give away seed head.

                Yes, it does. I should have recognised it because I have lots of it and the seed heads are like mini-teasels and catch onto your clothes and the dogs fur and are a real pain. I pull it up whenever possible!
