Made me feel a lot better watching that.

I have a pond and it is literally teaming with tadpoles which I am currently rearing on thinned lettuce seedlings and daphnia.

I intented to build a frog or toad army of my own.

I am looking into a frog hotel to go with my bug hotel at the bottom of the plot as well.

Found two hiding underneath my oriental poppies, along with a few snails. They always make me run a mike when I see them though. I was wearing flip flops and the thought of them landing on my toes makes me want to stifle a scream

I have been puttign all the snails and slugs I have found on the plot into my pond to help my frog army get used to eating them.

Happy to report that when I went last night - they are fevourishly feeding on a snail floating and on a number of slugs at the bottom of the pond:

It was a proud moment to see my little men having their first (of hopefully many) taste of slug and snail.

Not sure how they are gonna mange this mofo however:

Oh it'll be no problem leon - it's a smoker, it'll never manage to outrun them !
I will say though - the fags never stunted it's growth...

I'm afraid tadpoles are not huge meat eaters & were probably only 'cleaning' the snail (they like eating algae, etc)

I started throwing slugs in the pond but they just drowned & swelled and ended up fishing them out after a few days.

The frogs have mostly disappeared now so I am eagerly awaiting their return because I'm sick of the slugs & snails munching on my greens!

Not sure on the "cleaning" - I snip the snails and slugs in half before they go in, and they swarm the things within minutes - not just ones that have been in the pond for days (which they generally leave alone and I fish out).

Most of them are now froglets - seen literally hundreds in the longer grass around the plot.

I am trusting they are going ot be loyal to their master and come back to my plot of an evening and feast on them there slugs and snails.

That must be where I've gone wrong by not chopping them up.

I know the tadpoles loved bread & fish food.

Ours have disappeared now but I'm hoping the same, that they will come back when they are big enough to munch on some lunch!
