Slug deterrent experiment!

So....... if all the seasons merge into one, as seems to be happening, we can look forward to mild, damp weather all year round and an excess of slugs and pests. I think it may be time to rethink the things I try to grow.
Any suggestions (polite ones)?

Slugs don't eat rocket.
Mind you my family won't either!

Last night I scattered crushed eggshells around my yoghurt pots and bottles and nothing was munched! Am going to get some slug pellets though to put inside pots/bottles out of the way off the puddy tats. These slimey little devils WILL NOT get the better of me!!!!
