Many folks don't approve of the use of Roundup mainly because of the history of the company which produces it but as a one off treatment, it's what I would use to clear a plot of perennial weeds before returning to the best weedkiller there is, - my trusty hoe.
To clear brush, weedkiller isn't the answer. A good pair of loppers and a stout fork or perhaps a crowbar will take care of that nicely. Don't rush at it like a bull at a gate. Do it systematically one bit at a time. It will surprise you how much progress you can make in a short time.
Pics before and after please.

Cut down the brambles, then weed kill if you want to, Cover the ground and only work on a small bit at a time or the weeds will re-establish them selves.Gardening requires a lot of water - most of it in the form of perspiration. Lou Erickson, critic and poet

I have just ordered a couple of sachets of Glyphosate to try once and for all to get rid of the bindweed. So it'll be paintbrush at the ready when it arrives.sigpic“Gorillas are very intelligent, but they don't have to be as delicate as chimps -- they can just smash open the termite nest,”

Unfortunately brambles spread underground and also by root tips so its best to cut it all down as far as you can before tackling the roots. We took over an overgrown plot in April and have now found one of our 'tayberries' is a blackberry - it may have been a tayberry back in the day but has reverted we think to old rootstock. I pulled out 20 blackberry suckers the other day so after it has fruited we will dig it out. I would rather forage for blackberries. We have used a combination of elbow grease, black plastic, cardboard, old carpet and stable litter (provided by our site) to suppress weeds. Good luck and I hope you have a good pair of strong gardening gloves.A weed is a plant that has mastered every survival skill except for learning how to grow in rows
